The Children's Movement of Florida conducted a survey of more than 6,400 parents and guardians in 2021 to learn more about child care challenges for families with young children.
- 43.5% of parents responding in English said that they either hadn't found child care that was affordable or the child care they have found is a challenge to afford.
- 67.6% of parents responding in Spanish said that they either hadn't found child care that was affordable or the child care they have found is a challenge to afford.
- 64% of parents responding in English said that it was especially difficult to find infant and toddler care.
- 52% of parents responding in Spanish said that it was especially difficult to find infant and toddler care.
COVID-19 has amplified the challenges of child care and employment alike -- and has done so consistently among employee types. With the current tight labor market, employee benefits such as ways to support families with child care (from information about it to helping to defray the cost of it), can help with both job recruitment and retention.
